RAISING EURO AWARENESS

The Euro Changeover Board of Ireland (ECBI) and the Department of Social Community & Family Affairs (DSCFA) are jointly hosting a series of regional euro awareness events, entitled "RAISING EURO AWARENESS". A total of seven events will be held, commencing on Monday, the 8th October.

Each event is an open day for the general public and particularly for organisations representing social welfare customers and people with particular needs regarding the changeover to the euro, including older people, people with disabilities, travellers, refugees and asylum seekers. We also welcome people working in Citizen Information Centres and Money Advice Bureau Services offices, etc.

Presentations will be made by the ECBI and the DSCFA throughout the day, at regular intervals.

As well as being hosted by the ECBI and the DSCFA, we hope to have other information providers at the events, including a representative from the National Council for the Blind of Ireland, the Department of Agriculture, Food & Rural Development and the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs. Euro information materials from all organisations, including those for people with particular needs, will be on display throughout the day.

You are cordially invited to attend any of these events and it is our hope that you will also pass on this information to any networks you work with or have access to. In so far as is possible, all events will be wheelchair accessible and we are trying to arrange to have a signer at each event.

The events will be launched by the Minister for Social, Community & Family Affairs, Mr. Dermot Ahern, TD on the 8th October at the Hotel Imperial, Dundalk. Details of all events are as follows:
