- All payments to customers issued up to 31
December 2001 will be in Irish pounds. If you are cashing such payments
on or after 1 January 2002, you will receive the exact conversion
of the payment in euro and cent
- From 1 January 2002 onwards, social welfare
payments will automatically be in euro. For payments due from that
date, amounts will be adjusted upwards to 10 cent amounts, to the
customer's advantage.
Information
The Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs will run a public
awareness campaign to inform customers about its plans for the changeover
to the euro. Also, leaflets and application forms will be revised during
2001 to reflect the changeover to the euro.

Short Tax 'Year' Ending December 2001:
- All Notices of Tax Credits and Standard Rate
Cut Off Point for the short tax 'year' were issued in Irish pounds,
with the weekly/monthly/annual amounts expressed in both euro and
Irish pounds
- Employees must make their annual Income Tax
Returns in Irish pounds and any end of year reviews will be conducted
in Irish pounds
- Where employees receive euro denominated
P60s and P45s from their employers, Revenue will accept these and
make the necessary conversions
- All repayments issued from 1 January 2002
will be denominated in euro.
Tax Year Commencing 1 January 2002:
- Notices of Tax Credits and Standard Rate
Cut Off Point, P60s and P45s issued for the 2002 tax year will be
denominated in euro only
- Employees must make their annual Income Tax
Returns in euro and any end of year reviews will be conducted in euro.
