Public Payphones

  • From 1 January 2002, public payphones will be capable of accepting Irish coins, euro coins, and a combination of both, as well as payments by callcards and credit cards
  • After 9 February 2002, only euro coins will be accepted.

Explanatory messages issued with the first euro bills in 2002 will give contact points for euro queries.

IF YOU ARE IN BUSINESS

The Forfás EMU Business Awareness Campaign

By 1 January 2002, every business in Ireland must be ready for the euro. From then on, business as usual will mean business in euro. This means that you must be ready to:

  • Price your goods and services in euro
  • Invoice your customers in euro
  • Pay your staff in euro
  • Pay your suppliers in euro
  • Maintain your internal accounts/book-keeping records in euro
  • Make tax returns (VAT/PAYE/PRSI etc.) in euro.
