The Department of Education and Science

The Department of Education and Science is represented on the Single Currency Officers Team (SCOT).

Small Bullet Point The Department has set up an internal working group to plan and implement a programme of euro information and education aimed at first and second-level schools. As part of this programme, an information leaflet on the changeover to the euro was issued to teachers in Autumn 1998.
Small Bullet Point This will be followed by curriculum guidelines on the euro which will be prepared for issue to schools in 1999. The guidelines will refer to appropriate curricular areas and assist teachers in introducing the euro into the classroom.
Small Bullet Point The working group is also addressing the implications for the certificate examinations and for school textbooks arising from the changeover.
