The Insurance Industry

The Irish Insurance Federation is represented on the Euro Changeover Board of Ireland.

From 1 January 1999:

	Insurers will deal in euro on request.
	Insurers' investment systems will be converted to euro, as all capital market transactions and stock exchange business will be carried out in euro.
	Insurers will respond to customer enquiries for any specific policy information in euro on Irish pound denominated policies.
	Many insurers are expected to provide dual currency information on headline figures in life and non-life insurance policies.
	Euro- denominated savings and pension products will be introduced.

From 1 January 2002:

All insurance transactions will be carried out in euro.
