| "Euro
aah...it's Paul McGrath" International
soccer star, Paul McGrath, got help on the euro from students when
he promoted a special information pack which is currently being
distributed to every primary and secondary school in the country,
today (Thursday, 1st November). He also launched a public
information video on the changeover.
The information pack includes euro posters,
a new information video and a leaflet showing euro notes and coins
for each student. Mr Philip Hamell, Chairperson of the Euro
Changeover Board of Ireland, said that the aim of the information
pack was to provide resource materials on the euro for teachers and
a leaflet to every pupil in the country.
"We regard students and young people
as an important group in helping to inform their parents about the
euro. We feel it is vital therefore, that every student at primary
and secondary level has the relevant information. The new public
information video incorporates the most up-to-date information on
the changeover with practical information on notes and coins, the
value of the euro and what will happen from 1 January next" he
said.
The public information video "When the
penny drops" is available in English, Irish and in a signed and
subtitled version. It is being distributed to government
departments, local authorities, health boards, public libraries as
well as to community and voluntary groups.
Information on the euro is available from
the Euro Changeover Board of Ireland's LoCall number 1890 20 10 50
