Release on Cash Changeover Plan ---------------------------- NGO PROGRAMME
The
ECBI operates a funding programme for Non-Governmental Organisations
(NGOs) as part of its National Information Programme. Under this programme,
funding of up to 50% is available to NGOs to meet the costs of activities
undertaken to promote awareness of the euro. For the purpose of this
programme, NGOs are defined as non-profit making organisations and include
registered charities, voluntary, community and vocational organisations. The 2000
NGO Programme is now underway. Contracts were awarded to 46 organisations
and projects are due to be completed by 30 June 2000 at the latest. A new
programme, for year 2001, will be announced in the autumn. For
